2015 – Cubs Year of Adventure!!
Welcome to the 103rd Derby (Chellaston) Cub Pack!! We meet every Tuesday evening, 7pm until 8.30pm during term time. We have between 20 and 24 Cubs at any one time, and our aim is to have fun while learning important life skills.
Over the May Day bank holiday weekend, we had our annual camp, this year we were at Beaudesert Park Scout Camp site, near Cannock Chase. We did lots of brilliant activities including crate stacking, low ropes, backwoods cooking and played capture the flag in the woods. We went on a hike, and visited a local farm. We all had a fantastic time!!
Our excellent trip to Tesco in Mickleover for our Farm To Fork experience was very much enjoyed by all present. We learnt about fruit and vegetables, tasted cheese and held fish. We visited the bakery, where we kneaded some dough, and felt how cold it was in the freezers (-18C). Everyone taking part got a goodie bag and a badge.
To celebrate our Year of Adventure leading up to the centenary of the Cub Scouts, Derbyshire County Scouts organised an activity day at Lea Green. This was a fantastic, fun packed day for Sixers only. We were allocated two places so took two of our Sixers, and had an amazing time. We tried lots of activities including caving, climbing, orienteering, fencing and loads more.
Perhaps the best part of the day – we saw Bear Grylls, our Chief Scout. One of our Cubs even got his autograph!!
We have updated the gallery and you can see lots of photographs from our various activities.
